I feel that this is happening on my Miata. It's so perfect for the moment that it's like am driving my 3 with less weight and a bit more output. I got no more vibrations, I can go up to 195 km/h (closed circuit) and brake with no drama. There's no weird noises, except for the roll bars and the seats. Basically, it's not keeping me on my toes like before. Ever felt that toward your cars oppo?

Hit a speed bump really fast. Boom! Problem solved (or, created in this case).

I need to rotate my tires and change my oil. It feels like I should be doing something much more intensive

Oh well, the suspension needs to be changed anyways :P

Like?

I don't even know. I have had to change the turbo inlet, spark plugs, fuel pump, and all sorts of other tinkering it just feels weird to say, "I don't really need to do anything to my car."

I wish I had your problem. Granted my car has 0 problems but there are so many small creeks and rattles they drive me insane!

Lol no chance of that happening, I drive a Land Rover

I gotta change the engine and transmission since there's a lot of parts to change in them and for the price, it's better to get a used engine with less mileage, then I got the interior to switch for the NB, get better tires, get coilovers, get a LSD and a few bling bling parts, but like you I feel that the car is perfect this way and needs nothing.

Drive a Miata for a week. I swear, all the rattles and squeaks I had in my 3 just disappeared lol. But don't you have a FR-S???

Maybe I shall get a Jagggggggggggg next hahaha

I need to add some aftermarket things to get it to where I want to, but as far as general maintenance it doesn't really need anything. It has too much body roll, so I want to get some larger swaybars/ better endlinks as well as an anti-lift kit which will get the suspension geometry in check. I think after that and maybe some wider wheels/tires I will be happy. I don't want to lower the car anymore but a suspension upgrade of some sort may be in the future.

I drive one of those two...

Oh boy, theses 3 points seemed bad. How is it maintenance wise?
![]() 09/17/2013 at 21:29 |

Yeah... Shortly before I wrecked it, three weeks ago. I kept saying to myself afterwards "it was so perfect... everything was in working order". I didn't feel it was losing its character though, just that I wouldn't have to worry about it breaking down on me anymore. Now I'll have to do it all over again. :/

The Fiat???

Land Rover, not so bad other than the standard stuff and what ever I break off roading. That and I leaks oil, but that doesn't count because if a Land Rover isn't leaking then its empty.
The Jag, only major issues were a leaking sump gasket and the transfer case new up on me.
I keep the maintenance costs down by wrenching on them myself and sourcing parts from enthusiast sites and not the stealerships

Yeah... It was nothing too extensive and the car's been back on the road for a week now, but I still have to sort out some headlight gremlins that showed up after the car came back from the body shop, and the whining brakes, which had pretty much solved themselves during my vacation came back in full fucking force.
I was already planning on giving the car a minor overhaul during summer, to sort out all the noises, and maybe add some more power, better brakes and suspension, but now that's pretty much a must-do.
Here's two pictures from the post op. It looks... well, the same as before, fortunately.

I go back and fourth. Sometimes I really want to have project work on my car, other times I enjoy just having a cool car to drive.

I really missed a lot during theses 5 weeks...Glad it came back to almost pristine state!

Haha, thanks man. To be honest, this car's seen some stuff in the last 18 years, I'm just glad that wreck wasn't the last of them.

Hum...I still don't know if I really want a Jag anymore.

I remember the great story you told us a few months ago lol. I feel that you're tied forever with it :P

I have this problem.

I have a Xtype, for some reason they thought it was a good idea to only have 1/2 a quart of gear oil in the T-case. The engine though is bulletproof so apart from the sump gasket haven't had issues with it up to this point and I have 130k on it. XJ8 however are actually reliable, shocking I know.
![]() 09/17/2013 at 21:58 |

Which car do you have?
![]() 09/17/2013 at 21:59 |

Good because I was thinking about a XJ6/R/8 hahaha

This will seem counter-intuitive since they are generally known to have an unreliable reputation, but I have a 1999 ML320. 209k miles. Everything works. When I got it from my dad who abandoned it for like 2-3 years it had a bunch of issues. I finally found myself a project to do for the car because the engine mounts are shot, so that will entertain me for a bit.

I think I got it...when you find nothing important to fix, it becomes boring.
![]() 09/17/2013 at 22:09 |

I did the same with my father's old Jetta TDI. It's had a lot of tiny issues, like a mysterious leak from the sunroof's drainage system, and the front struts too. Now they're gone. and I want an older car to fix, like a Mazda MX-6.
![]() 09/17/2013 at 22:15 |

Yeah it is an FR-S. 90% of it arises from the trunk. The other 10% I think is the exhaust and I might have to get better hangers than the stock ones.

It's worth it! Get the V6 model :)
![]() 09/17/2013 at 22:24 |

I would be too, if it weren't for SWAMBO telling me we need a kid friendly car. Oh well, wagon it is!
![]() 09/17/2013 at 22:31 |

Yea...that's usually the issues with the first 2 yrs of a brand new car with a new chassis. My 3 had the same issues when I got it in 2010, the 2012 model had zero issues with this.
![]() 09/17/2013 at 22:33 |

hahahahaha Not a bad choice neither. Wagons are sexy!

pound around in your trunk till you find said squeek and put some felt tape on the contact point and the squeek will be gone. or you could go take it in to the dealer and be like "Waranty mother fuckers! fix my squeeks!"

most definitely. and i found one that's in decent shape.

I so want to swap a freaking for ecoboost 3cylinder in a NA miata it hurts. Would make for an awesome 200hp way lighter than before machine to slam around. That is all. Love your car btw. Nice color, although I would love mine in BRG.
